Everyone has a desire to belong. The concept of community has weakened over the past half a century and people no longer support each other or their community as they once did. Mental health issues are rampant and begin during youth, leading to a cycle of a bully or be bullied mentality. Often this leads to hopelessness, which can compound into battles with mental health, addiction or even suicide, leading to further degradation of our communities. As a conduit and proponent of resources, we can rally community members to want better and instill hope and belonging in the communities we serve.
The mental health of our youth is an unrecognized pandemic. Suicide rates are soaring, bullying is a chronic issue and local resources for youth mental health are at capacity. Mental health issues are the biggest driver of bullying. We are creating partnerships to bring on-demand care to our youth.
How to have difficult conversations, addressing a youth with a mental health issue, navigating education options or challenges, dealing with special needs, social media oversight - parents need help. Through partnerships and education can we help parents navigate these difficult waters.
50 years ago communities supported each other. People helped people, cleaned up parks and common spaces, and had pride in their community. Over the last 50 years people have become reliant on others to take care of the community. Through programs and volunteer opportunities we are rebuilding community pride.
As a father, youth sports coach and a 25 year veteran of the Employee Benefits industry, Justin has seen the impact of bullying, mental health and lack of resources available to youth. Using his background in corporate management, healthcare and a passion for helping children, his goal is connect these resources in a way that leaves no child behind.
Preston has spent decades working in communities to combat bullying. Letting his own disability be a driver for getting his message out that no child deserves to be bullied. Honored by many community organizations, Preston is a passionate and well-known public speaker against bullying having spoken at schools across the Northwest. He is also an avid sports fan and enjoys umpiring hockey, volleyball and softball games throughout the region.
